Snorkel Gear Rental-Anywhere close to Sanibel/FMB

Hello everyone, Thanks for being so helpful before....now I%26#39;m looking for help again. We are taking a private charter (Fuery) to Cayo Costa in July, (2 adults/2 juniors) - we would like to be prepared for snorkeling, if the water should allow, however...don%26#39;t want to buy snorkel gear in Missouri (where we%26#39;ll never use it again) and pack it to FL. Can you rent the gear close by? We%26#39;ve never snorkeled before, so I am clueless on this. We are staying at FMB, so we can rent there or Sanibel, or Captiva...just needing some ideas of where to go. THANKS AGAIN!!!!!

Some captains supply gear. How sanitary it is is anybodys guess. You can buy it up on Captiva at the beach gear place, or rent it at YOLO Watersports on Andy Rosse Lane. For the rental price you can easily get a cheap set at the K - Mart on the way onto the island. I%26#39;m sure other island stores sell it as well, at least kids sizes. On the corner of Six Mile Cypress and Rt 41 on the far right is this big two story that sells all kinds of inflatable toys and such. Big sign on it. They have gear too, or did the last time I was in.

Check with Captain Mike and see if he has any suggestions. He may have a supplier and could have it on the boat so you won%26#39;t need to bother.

I know you said you don%26#39;t want to buy equipment because you are unlikely to use it again...however, you never know!!! Perhaps you will ';catch the bug'; and plan future vacations around good snorkeling spots :)

If you can find a Florida vendor with a full assortment of rental equipment you will be fine. On the other hand...since this is your first experience and you will be in a large body of water, be aware that a good fit on your masks can make a big difference on the enjoyment of your experience. Our local dive shop runs a special that includes mask, snorkel, and mesh bag for $49.95. This won%26#39;t be top of the line, but will include professional fitting of the mask that best fits the contours of your face.

If you have a dive shop in your area it wouldn%26#39;t hurt to check it out and maybe get some pointers at the same time. Ours has an on site pool where customers can try out the gear. Just a thought....

Hope your first snorkeling adventure is great fun for all!

Thank you both for your help. I think I will go with checking with Capt Mike first.

Yes, hopefully we get to do it more, however....I doubt it. It%26#39;s like pulling teeth to get my husband to take a vacation EVER....when we do, it%26#39;s always to the west coast and we never take the time to snorkel there!

Again, thanks for the help!
