suggestions on where to stay biketober fest week-13-20th Oct

we are a couple (middle aged but young at heart)from England UK we want somewhere as reasonable as possible to stay for this biking week in October. It will be our first time visiting the area , we don%26#39;t know the best and nearest hotels for this biking event. We will not have a car so we need to be as near as possible without being too expensive.

We have just been scammed by a guy on ebay-he took our money but there is no accommodation-so now we are searching again.

Any suggestions will be appreciated along with any tips that may be useful to us.

Also, how near are the best shopping malls (and their names)so that I can do a bit of Christmas shopping.

I have looked up loads of places to stay, but I don%26#39;t know how near/far they are from this event.

SO PLEASE HELP US!!! THANK YOU.

Did you make a report to eBay?

Any hotel along A1A should be suitable, but you will not be near any Mall. You just have to have a car to get around anywhere in that area.

We were there for the last Bike Week and many of the bikers were cruising along A1A. Then there were other Bike events as far away as Hwy 44 East of I-4.

studio1motel.com search this forum for studio 1 and you%26#39;ll see reviews

Go to daytonabeach.com - that is the website for the convention bureau - they all the hotels listed - and you can put in your dates and check availability and rates. Most hotels describe where they are located - you may want to get something on the beach. Daytona Beach is spread out, and Biketoberfest happens within a radius of 100 km - so you really may want to consider renting a car.

Keep us posted!

There are gift /souvineer shops all up and down A1A which is where most of the bikers activity will be. A trolly and bus run all day long on A1A but am not sure if they go to the Mall. Locals can you tell us if they do? I am sorry about Ebay and so hope you can get your money back. What kind of motel do you want? Oceanfront, on the beach, across the street from the beach, pool, kitchen, luxury or budget? What is your price range? That will help us guide you. My best wishes for recouping your financial loss.

When you look at hotel addresses you will find that all downtown locations are on Atlantic (S or N) and Ocean Avenue. further north Atlantic becomes Oceanshore. If you want to stay downtown, near Main Street, etc. you will want to be on Ocean Avenue or N/S Atlantic up to the 500s in either direction.

Public transportation will take you up and down Atlantic and Ocean and it also will go on International Speedway Blvd. to the mall, airport, and racetrack. Some bike events have moved to US1 in the Ormond Beach area. You would need to find transportation to that location. However, there would be plenty to see and do staying in the downtown area and using public transportation to access the mail, etc. on ISB.

I am shocked that you were scammed. I think if you stick to calling hotels directly or using a website such as vacationhomes.com or vacationrentals.com you have no problems.

Good luck

Chip, thanks for the heads up about public transportation going to the Daytona airport. About 10 years ago we flew directly in to Daytona and paid a taxi to take us to our motel. I wish I would have known that then. We don%26#39;t fly into Daytona%26#39;s airport anymore because we can get a n/s to Orlando in much less time even with driving over. As far as being scammed I think it is just awful! I have always found it much better to call the motel directly and can usually talk my way into a better rate as well.
