Dinner for Eight

Hello all,

There%26#39;s a group of 8 of us for dinner. We%26#39;re looking to do this as our nice meal of the weekend and we%26#39;re hoping to sit somewhere outside. I%26#39;ve been reading tons of reviews on restaurants and still can%26#39;t seem to decide on one.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

CC

Dinner for Eight

We need a little more info. How much per person do you want to spend? What kind of food are you looking for? Location? There is such a variety in Key West it is hard to advise unless you get a little more specific.

Dinner for Eight

A nice outside restaurant that most people like is Blue Heaven on Petronia about two blocks off Duval. They have a variety of types of food and drinks and.you can sit in their garden and admire the chickens and cats and there is usually some live but quiet music.

The menu is here:

The BBQ shrimp app is very good as is the veggie platter, and they make a good blackened catch-of-the-day platter with black beans and yellow rice. I usually get a Kalik beer with dinner here.

Nice meal? Outside? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Narrows it down to about 100 spots. Only 50 or so on Duval.

For something like this, why not wait until you get down there, and look around and seewhat flips your switch. What I think is good and nice to do, may not be what yo think is all that hot. Ask bartenders, hotel staff, taxi drivers, other visitors, once you are down there. Ask them where their favorite place for _________ is and why they liked it.

It%26#39;s not like you need to make a reservation today. Too much planning is a bad thing.

The ';BEST'; plan you can make is to plan not to have a plan.

Sorry for being so vague. We%26#39;re lookoing for a mix of seafood and steak/chicken/pasta. Entrees $15- $30 in price range. I would love not to plan but there are 8 of us and we%26#39;ll be there Memorial Day weekend so I%26#39;m a little nervous about reservations etc. Would love the restaurant to be somewhat near duval so we can head out afterwards.

Thanks,

Christina

Over by Mallory Square where the Cruise Ships dock the Weston has a second level restaurant that looks out over the Ocean. The view will be great if a ship is not docked.

Do you have to be outside? How about next to open windows to the outside? It might be HOT.

Alice%26#39;s comes to mind first. Creative menu, your price, dreamy specials, great service. www.aliceskeywest.com/Alicesdinner0704.html

Santiago%26#39;s Bodega, a tiny ';tapas'; place where an 8 top would certainly get a lot of service.

If you%26#39;re mobile, Mangrove Mama%26#39;s, very keysy, fantastic menu, less $ than KW. Sit under a canvas canopy, 8 top is easy. MM19 or so.

There%26#39;s also a place on White St away from the strip that has a garden in the back where they could do 8 easily. A French Canadian and his sister started and ran it until they sold it and moved back north. Mo%26#39;s Restaurant. French cuisine, everything%26#39;s good and the budget will be happy.

I%26#39;ve heard that Michaels has a nice pre-sunset menu. I think you get a choice of appetizers, entrees and desserts for around $26/person. I%26#39;ve not tried this restaurant, but I%26#39;m planning on going there for the pre-sunset menu for our one ';nice'; meal in Key West.
