Parking near hotel

We%26#39;re staying at the Island City House in June. We%26#39;re renting a car and driving down from FLL. I know parking can be kind of limited in Key West. Any suggestions on where we can park? We probably won%26#39;t even use the car except for getting to Key West and then getting back to the airport. I plan on just kicking back and soaking up all that Key West has to offer!

And one more question...what are these Kinos I keep seeing mentioned? They seem very popular...I feel like I should get a pair while I%26#39;m there.

Maybe consider doing two one way rentals - depending on how long you%26#39;re staying that could save you some money, in addition to the parking hassle. Just drop the FLL rental off when you arrive, and pick up another for the return journey.

You should definitley get Kino%26#39;s while there. here is their site

First, if you plan on leaving the car parked during your stay, why not turn it in when you get to Key West...then rent another for the trip back to the airport. Saves money and it%26#39;s one less car to be parked in Key West.

However, if you%26#39;re looking for a place to park it, you%26#39;ll be at William and Eaton...that%26#39;s only a couple of blocks from the public parking ramp at Caroline %26amp; Grinnell. You could stow it at the ramp and if you decide you need it, just go get it whenever..

Kinos are cool leather sandal/thong/flip-flops which sell for about 10 bucks. You%26#39;ll find the Kinos factory set back from the street in a little shopping area on Fitzpatrick street. From Greene walk about half way down the block on Fitzpatrick and you%26#39;ll see it on the right way back in the left-hand corner .

ldybugg, kino%26#39;s are very inexpensive but very high quality and comfortable hand made open sandals. They%26#39;re at 107 Fitzpatrick, but that street name isn%26#39;t well known, just ask anyone where the Kino place is and you%26#39;ll get directions. It%26#39;s a family owned business and has been here for years, and a favorite of visitors who want some comfy walking sandals. Pronounced ';kee-no';.

love keno%26#39;s they are awsome. very comfy, and come in a wide range of colors and styles. they have some great colors that would go perfectly with lily pultizer dresses or vera bradley bags!

Hey ldybugg!

My husband and I have flown into Miami, driven to KW and dropped the car off until we needed it to go back to the airport. That%26#39;s what we are doing this time, except we are flying into FLL. We used ALAMO and they had a shuttle there to drop us back off at the hotel after we dropped the car off. It%26#39;s much easier and much cheaper than having a car the whole week.

Thanks for the tips! We thought about just dropping the car off when we got into Key West, but someone told me they charge you an extra fee for that kind of thing. But if that%26#39;s nt the case, then we%26#39;ll ditch the car. The more money we save on the car, the more money we have for beer and shrimp :)

My guess is that, whatever that ';extra fee'; is, it will be more than offset by the savings realized by not having the car for those days. I%26#39;m not sure how long your stay is - if it%26#39;s a week, do the drop off for sure.

I booked through Alamo, and I used their pre-pay option. I paid about $40-$45 for each day. It was a little higher than I wanted, but it was still cheaper than a plane ticket or having the car for the entire eight days we are there. The beautiful drive is worth every cent!
