Air Force Museum

We%26#39;ve never been to the area and coming in a couple weeks and thought there was an air force museum close to Destin.? If so, how far away, good to visit, how long to get through it, etc.

Air Force Museum

The Air Force Armament museum is at Eglin AFB. It%26#39;s pretty closeby - 15 miles from Destin.

Here%26#39;s a link to the museums website:

Also, there is a Naval Air museum @ Pensacola NAB. It%26#39;s excellent and free.

Air Force Museum

We visited there a couple of years ago with my dad,who is a retired AF veteran and we all enjoyed it.It took us maybe an hour and was pretty crowded.

The air force museum near Destin is interesting. However, it is nowhere near as elaborate and entertaining as the Naval Air Museum in Pensacola. Check out the Blue Angels website at blueangels.navy.mil. You can often catch the Blue Angels practicing on base in Pensacola next to the museum. Just be aware that they draw crowds even for practice and give yourself extra time to get onto the base and get parked. My children and I thought it was well worth the drive. If you choose, you could make a full day of it and check out the fort in Pensacola Beach or the zoo in Gulf Breeze.
