Advice

We are trying to plan a ';girls'; weekend to Ft. Lauderdale. Any suggestions of places to stay that are centrally located to entertainment, beach etc.. We want to walk as much as possible and only use taxi%26#39;s when absolutely necessary. Any shopping ideas are welcomed too.

Thanks for your help.

That kind of weekend sounds like being across the street

to an upscale shopping mall in a very nice suite hotel

would imply the Doubletree Gallareia on the intercoastal.

But, hey, what would an ordinary guy know about these things?

Advice

Yes, I had thought of the Doubletree as well, now known as the Gallery One/Doubletree- right next door to Galleria Mall ( Neiman , Marcus, Saks, Dillards) about a block and a half to the beach, right on the Intracoastal and a Water Taxi Stop to take you further south to the BeachPlace bars and the dining and clubs of Las Olas Blvd.

Galleria has an Arden Red Door Spa as well and there is also day spa across the Street.

The mega- mall Sawgrass Outlet ( 300 plus shops including designers and Coach etc) is all the way across town, but if there are four of you, I think you could share a taxi about $70 total each way ( i%26#39;m estimating) With the split fare , it might be worth a shopping marathon. You could consult the concierge in case they know a private service that would be a better deal ( but I%26#39;m thinking not).

Water Taxi fare is $11 pp for all day on and off- a little Sun Trolley runs up and down the beach too and is very cheap.

I just got back from Savannah on Wed.- had a great time and shopped the sales at Belks- I think you%26#39;ll enjoy Lauderdale in return!
