In case anyone is curious, the next launch of Shuttle Atlantis is schedule for June 8 at 7:34PM. While a night (dark) launch is the most spectacular to see, this is not too bad a time since the sun will be in the west by that time in the evening. But the skys will still be light for a while.

Here is the link from the site I got the info. So far it looks like it%26#39;s only listing the June launch and a rocket launch also in June. You can sign up for updates from that site. As you know, it%26#39;s very rare for the shuttle to go up on the first try.
Most launches rarely go off on schedule.
Here is the listing though of anticipated launches:
June 8, Atlantis
Aug 9 Endeavour
Oct 20 Discovery
Dec 6 Atlantis
Feb 4, 2008 Endeavour
It looks like there are lots of opportunities.
My husband and I hope to see the June 8 launch...Something we have always wanted to do.... Please give me some advice on a good location to view the launch. i can still get tickets for the Kennedy Space center, but they are not the ';better'; tickets. It would cost $114 for each of us to view the launch from the visitor complex . (tickets through gator tours) From that location, you can only see the shuttle after it clears some trees. We%26#39;re driving from Pennsylvania to see this, and we would really like to see the lift-off. Is it better to watch from Cocoa Beach? Or Rt. 1? or near the Banana River? I keep reading about different options, but I don%26#39;t know which to choose. I would be grateful for your opinion. Thanks!
We tried to watch a launch in 1993 from Banana river but it was delayed and went up the day we left orlando. The river location was good but very smelly!
That June launch was originally scheduled for March, then end of April, now June-July...
As we drove through Titusville we saw plenty of spots along the river to stop for launch viewing, where you can clearly see across the river. You can ask for more info at Cocoa Beach forum or see the following post:

Hey Croydon,
I%26#39;m from SE Pa too, Philly with summers in WW. My family is still there.
As far as watching a launch, there are supposed to be lots of great places. I%26#39;ve lived here close to 10 years and have not been able to bring myself to face the traffic to get there and home on a launch day.
My parents went out for a 5AM launch a few years ago. They went straight across SR50 and stopped somewhere along US1. I have heard that it%26#39;s tough finding a place to stop. Restaurants and businesses will not let you use their lots, or will charge.
One great place is also Jetty Park. It%26#39;s a beach just past the cruise terminals. You exit 528 at the B terminal exit which is King George Blvd. The signs are not too great so you need to watch for the B exit. Go left and follow all the way back to the park/campground. They normally charge $5 per car, not sure if they%26#39;ll raise the price that day.
Since I live about 20-30 miles from the coast, we get a decent view once the shuttle is up a little bit.
Sunny,
Thanks for the advice! I did read something about Jetty Park...That sounds like a good location for us.
We are Wildwood people, too!
